Horn Controls

Vehicle horn is activated under these following conditions:

• Either horn switch is depressed.
• Body Control Module (BCM) commands horn on. BCM commands horn on under any of these following conditions:
  • When Content Theft Deterrent (CTD) system detects a vehicle intrusion.
  • When panic button is depressed on Remote Keyless Entry (RKE) transmitter.
  • When RKE system is used to lock vehicle, a horn chirp may sound to notify driver that vehicle has been locked. Notification feature may be enabled or disabled through personalization.

Battery voltage is applied at all times to horn relay coil and horn relay switch. Pressing either horn switch applies ground to horn relay control circuit. BCM may also apply ground to horn relay control circuit as described above. When horn relay control circuit is grounded, horn relay is energized and battery voltage is applied to horn through horn control circuit. Horn sounds as long as ground is applied to horn relay control circuit.
