Test A: Content Theft Deterrent System Inoperative: Testing

  1. If theft deterrent diagnostic system check has been performed, go to next step. If theft deterrent diagnostic system check has not been performed, perform diagnostic system check before proceeding. See THEFT DETERRENT DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK  under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM.
  2. Open driver's and passenger's windows. Unlock all doors using power door lock switch or remote transmitter. Remove ignition key from ignition lock cylinder. Open driver's door and observe THEFT Light Emitting Diode (LED). If THEFT LED flashes, go to next step. If THEFT LED does not flash, repair driver's door ajar circuit as necessary. See WIRING DIAGRAMS .
  3. Lock all doors using power door lock switch or remote transmitter. If THEFT LED changes from flashing to steady, go to next step. If THEFT LED does not change from flashing to steady, perform TEST F: THEFT LED INOPERATIVE .
  4. Ensure all doors are closed. Observe THEFT LED, after closing all doors. If THEFT LED begins to flash slowly in 30 seconds, go to next step. If THEFT LED does not begin to flash slowly in 30 seconds, perform TEST F: THEFT LED INOPERATIVE .
  5. Manually unlock driver's door, and open driver's door. If any function of alarm mode does not activate, go to next step. If all functions of alarm mode activate, inspect for intermittents or poor connections. See TROUBLE SHOOTING .
  6. Inspect door ajar circuits. See WIRING DIAGRAMS .
  7. If alarm function is not horn pulse only, perform TEST C: LIGHT INOPERATIVE IN CONTENT THEFT DETERRENT ALARM MODE . If alarm function is horn pulse only, perform TEST B: HORNS INOPERATIVE IN CONTENT THEFT DETERRENT ALARM MODE .
