DEFINITION: One or more chime functions are inoperative.
1 Did you perform the Instrument Cluster Diagnostic System Check? - Go to Step 2  Go to Diagnostic System Check - Instrument Cluster

  1. Turn OFF the ignition, with the key in the ignition.
  2. Open the driver door.
Does the chime sound?		 - Go to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections in Wiring Systems Go to Step 3

  1. Install a scan tool.
  2. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
  3. Open the driver door.
  4. With the scan tool, observe the Driver Door Jamb Switch parameter in the BCM data list.
Does the Driver Door Jamb Switch parameter display ACTIVE?		 - Go to Step 7  Go to Step 4

  1. Turn OFF the ignition.
  2. Disconnect the driver door jamb switch connector.
  3. Connect a 3 amp fused jumper wire between the signal circuit of the driver door jamb switch and a good ground.
  4. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
  5. With the scan tool, observe the Driver Door Jamb Switch parameter in the BCM data list.
Does the Driver Door Jamb Switch parameter display ACTIVE?		 - Go to Step 6  Go to Step 5 
5 Test the driver door jamb switch signal circuit for an open or a high resistance. Refer to Circuit Testing , and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.
Did you find and correct the condition?		 - Go to Step 14  Go to Step 10 
6 Test the driver door jamb switch ground circuit for an open or a high resistance. Refer to Circuit Testing , and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.
Did you find and correct the condition?		 - Go to Step 14  Go to Step 8

  1. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
  2. With the scan tool, observe the Key In Ignition parameter in the BCM data list.
Does the Key In Ignition parameter display YES?		 - Go to Step 10  Go to Step 9 
8 Inspect for poor connections at the harness connector of the driver door jamb switch. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections , and Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.
Did you find and correct the condition?		 - Go to Step 14  Go to Step 11 
9 Inspect for poor connections at the harness connector of the ignition key alarm switch. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections , and Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.
Did you find and correct the condition?		 - Go to Step 14  Go to Step 12 
10 Inspect for poor connections at the harness connector of the BCM. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections , and Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.
Did you find and correct the condition?		 - Go to Step 14  Go to Step 13 
11 Replace the driver door jamb switch. Refer to Front Side Door Lock Actuator Replacement in Doors.
Did you complete the replacement?		 - Go to Step 14  -
12 Replace the ignition key alarm switch. Refer to:
Did you complete the replacement?		 - Go to Step 14  -

IMPORTANT:

Perform the set up procedure for the replacement BCM.

Replace the BCM. Refer to Body Control Module Replacement in Body Control System.Did you complete the replacement?		 - Go to Step 14  -
14 Operate the system in order to verify the repair.
Did you correct the condition?		 - System OK Go to Step 2
