Shift Lever - Assemble - Off Vehicle

  1. Install the shift lever seal (2) onto the shift lever assembly (4).
    2. IMPORTANT:

    The abrasion sleeve must be installed back onto the steering column wire harness assembly. The electronic lock module assembly wires and connector must be hanging out of the middle of the abrasion sleeve.

  2. Install the shift lever assembly (4).
  3. Refer to FASTENER NOTICE in Cautions and Notices.

    Install the shift lever screw (3) into the shift lever assembly (4).

    Tighten 

    Tighten the shift lever screw to 1.5 N.m (13 lb in).

  4. Slide the shift lever seal (2) down the shift lever assembly (4).
  5. Install the upper and lower trim covers. Refer to Steering Column Trim Covers - Assemble - Off Vehicle (Column Shift Snap On Shrouds) , Steering Column Trim Covers - Assemble - Off Vehicle (Floor Shift) , Steering Column Trim Covers - Assemble - Off Vehicle (Column Shift) .
  6. Enable the inflatable restraint steering wheel module. Refer to Enabling the SIR System .
