Test G: Low Fuel Indicator Inoperative

  1. If diagnostic system check has been performed, go to next step. If diagnostic system check has not been performed, perform INSTRUMENT PANEL CLUSTER DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK  under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM.
  2. Verify system operation. If fault still exists, go to next step. If fault does not still exist, check for poor connections and intermittent conditions. See DIAGNOSING INTERMITTENTS  .
  3. Connect scan tool to Data Link Connector (DLC). DLC is located under instrument panel. Turn ignition on. Using scan tool, perform LAMP TEST in INSTRUMENT PANEL CLUSTER SPECIAL FUNCTIONS. If low fuel light illuminates when commanded ON, check for poor connections and intermittent conditions. See DIAGNOSING INTERMITTENTS  . If low fuel light does not illuminate when commanded ON, go to next step.
  4. Replace instrument cluster. See INSTRUMENT PANEL CLUSTER  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. After repairs, go to next step.
  5. Connect all disconnected components. Check system for proper operation. If system operates properly, test is complete. If system does not operate properly, go to step  2 .
