Test F: Volt Gauge Inaccurate/Inoperative
- If diagnostic system check has been performed, go to next step. If diagnostic system check has not been performed, perform INSTRUMENT PANEL CLUSTER DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM.
- Verify system operation. If fault still exists, go to next step. If fault does not still exist, check for poor connections and intermittent conditions. See DIAGNOSING INTERMITTENTS .
- Connect scan tool to Data Link Connector (DLC). DLC is located under instrument panel. Turn ignition on. Compare scan tool BATTERY VOLTAGE parameter in BCM data list to volt gauge display. If scan tool voltmeter reading agrees (approximately) with instrument cluster volt gauge, check for poor connections and intermittent conditions. See DIAGNOSING INTERMITTENTS . If scan tool voltmeter reading does not agree with instrument cluster volt gauge, go to next step.
- Replace instrument cluster. See INSTRUMENT PANEL CLUSTER under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. After repairs, go to next step.
- Connect all disconnected components. Check system for proper operation. If system operates properly, test is complete. If system does not operate properly, go to step 2 .
