Hood Hold-Open Rod Replacement

Removal Procedure

Caution: When a hood hold open device is being removed or installed, provide alternate support to avoid the possibility of damage to the vehicle or personal injury.


1. Open and support the hood.
2. Remove the coolant recovery reservoir.Refer to Coolant Recovery Reservoir Replacement.




3. Remove the bolt from the hood prop rod base.
4. Remove the hood prop rod from the engine compartment.



Installation Procedure





1. Position the hood prop rod to the body.
Ensure that the anti-rotation tab is located into the upper hole.

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Cautions and Notices.

2. Install the bolt to the hood prop rod base.

Tighten the bolts to 10 N.m (89 lb in).

3. Install the coolant recovery reservoir.Refer to Coolant Recovery Reservoir Replacement.
4. Install the stow hood prop rod to the hold down retainer.
5. Close the hood.
