Front Bumper Fascia Energy Absorber Replacement

Tools Required

J 38778 Door Trim Pad and Garnish Clip Remover


Removal Procedure





1. Remove the front bumper fascia. Refer to Front Bumper Fascia Replacement (Chevrolet) (Fascia Replacement - Front Bumper (Chevrolet))Front Bumper Fascia Replacement (Oldsmobile) ()Front Bumper Fascia Replacement (Pontiac) ()
2. Use the J 38778 Door Trim Pad and Garnish Clip Remover
in order to remove the push-in retainers from the front bumper energy absorber.
3. Remove the front bumper energy absorber from the front impact bar.
4. Remove the front impact bar bolts from the rail.
5. Remove the front impact bar from the frame rail.



Installation Procedure





1. Align the front impact bar to the frame rail.
Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Cautions and Notices.


2. Install the front impact bar bolts to the frame rail.

Tighten the bolts to 25 N.m (18 lb ft).

3. Install the push-in retainers to the front bumper energy absorber.
4. Install the front bumper fascia. Refer to Front Bumper Fascia Replacement (Chevrolet) (Fascia Replacement - Front Bumper (Chevrolet))Front Bumper Fascia Replacement (Oldsmobile) ()Front Bumper Fascia Replacement (Pontiac) () .
