Test I: Driver Information Center Compass Inaccurate Or "C" Displayed

  1. Perform Driver Information Display (DID) diagnostic system check. See DRIVER INFORMATION SYSTEMS DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK  under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM. Go to next step.
  2. Ensure compass is inaccurate or "C" is displayed on DID. If system operates properly, check for an intermittent or poor connections in related wiring. After repairs, go to step  5 . If system does not operate properly, go to next step.
  3. Perform magnetic variation adjustment and calibration of DID compass settings. See COMPASS CALIBRATION  under ADJUSTMENTS. If compass display remains inaccurate or displays a "C", go to next step. If DID compass display is normal, or no longer displays "C", go to step  5 .
  4. Replace DID. Calibrate DID compass. See COMPASS CALIBRATION  under ADJUSTMENTS. Go to next step.
  5. Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Restore any previously disconnected components or connectors. Turn ignition switch to ON position. Operate system to verify repair is complete. If fault remains, go to step  3 .
