Test 12: Change Engine Oil Message Always On

  1. Perform INSTRUMENT PANEL CLUSTER (IPC) DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK before proceeding. See INSTRUMENT PANEL CLUSTER (IPC) DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK  under SYSTEM TEST. If INSTRUMENT PANEL CLUSTER (IPC) DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK has been performed, go to next step.
  2. Start engine. If CHANGE ENGINE OIL message does not illuminate, check for an intermittent problem caused by poor connections, a break in wire insulation, or a broken wire inside insulation. See WIRING DIAGRAMS . If CHANGE ENGINE OIL message illuminates, go to next step.
  3. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Fully push and release accelerator pedal 3 times within 5 seconds. If CHECK ENGINE OIL message flashes 2 times, message is reset. If message illuminates and stays on for 5 seconds, message is not reset, return to step  2.
