Test 11: Volt Gauge Inaccurate Or Inoperative
- Perform INSTRUMENT PANEL CLUSTER (IPC) DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK before proceeding. See INSTRUMENT PANEL CLUSTER (IPC) DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK under SYSTEM TEST. If INSTRUMENT PANEL CLUSTER (IPC) DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK has been performed, go to next step.
- Start engine. Check volt gauge operation. If volt gauge does not operate properly, go to next step. If volt gauge is operating properly, check for an intermittent problem caused by poor connections, a break in wire insulation, or a broken wire inside insulation. See WIRING DIAGRAMS .
- Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Remove IPC. See INSTRUMENT PANEL CLUSTER (IPC) under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Using a voltmeter connected to ground, backprobe IPC connector terminal B6, Ignition "1" circuit (Pink wire). Turn ignition switch to ON position. Compare voltmeter reading with volt gauge reading. If both readings are not about the same, go to next step. If both readings are about the same, check for an intermittent problem caused by poor connections, a break in wire insulation, or a broken wire inside insulation. See WIRING DIAGRAMS .
- Replace IPC. See INSTRUMENT PANEL CLUSTER (IPC) under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. After repair, go to next step.
- Check volt gauge operation. If system operates properly, repair is complete. If problem still exists, return to step 3.
