Test 1: Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC) Inoperative
- Perform INSTRUMENT PANEL CLUSTER (IPC) DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK before proceeding. See INSTRUMENT PANEL CLUSTER (IPC) DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK under SYSTEM TEST. If INSTRUMENT PANEL CLUSTER (IPC) DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK has been performed, go to next step.
- Turn ignition switch to ON position. Check IPC operation. If IPC is not operating, go to next step. If IPC is now operating, check for an intermittent problem caused by poor connections, a break in wire insulation, or a broken wire inside insulation. See WIRING DIAGRAMS .
- Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Remove IPC. See INSTRUMENT PANEL CLUSTER (IPC) under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Disconnect IPC connector. Turn ignition switch to ON position. Connect a test light between IPC connector terminal B6, ignition "1" circuit (Pink wire) and ground. If test light illuminates, go to next step. If test light does not illuminate, go to step 8.
- Connect test light between IPC connector terminals A8, ground circuit (Black/White wire) and B6, ignition "1" circuit (Pink wire). If test light illuminates, go to next step. If test light does not illuminate, go to step 7.
- Connect test light between IPC connector terminal A10, ignition "0" circuit (Pink wire) and ground. If test light illuminates, go to step 9. If test light does not illuminate, go to next step.
- Repair high resistance, open or short to ground in Pink wire between IPC and fuse block. After repair, go to step 10.
- Repair high resistance, open or short to ground in Black/White wire between IPC and body wiring harness junction block. After repair, go to step 10.
- Repair high resistance, open or short to ground in Pink wire between IPC and fuse block. After repair, go to step 10.
- Replace IPC. See INSTRUMENT PANEL CLUSTER (IPC) under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. After repair, go to next step.
- Recheck system operation. If IPC is now operating, system is okay. If IPC is not operating, return to step 3.
