Test 14: Check Engine Oil Pressure Message Always On

  1. Perform INSTRUMENT PANEL CLUSTER (IPC) DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK before proceeding. See INSTRUMENT PANEL CLUSTER (IPC) DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK  under SYSTEM TEST. If INSTRUMENT PANEL CLUSTER (IPC) DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK has been performed, go to next step.
  2. Start engine. If CHECK ENGINE OIL PRESSURE message does not illuminate, check for an intermittent problem caused by poor connections, a break in wire insulation, or a broken wire inside insulation. See WIRING DIAGRAMS . If CHECK ENGINE OIL PRESSURE message illuminates, go to next step.
  3. Check engine mechanical condition. Ensure engine develops adequate oil pressure. Repair engine mechanical condition as necessary. If engine mechanical condition is okay, go to appropriate engine oil diagnostic test in appropriate SELF-DIAGNOSTICS article.
