Master Cylinder: Reassembly

  1. Coat all parts with clean brake fluid or brake assembly lube. Install NEW piston cups onto pistons. Install secondary piston return spring, return spring seat and secondary piston into cylinder bore. Install primary piston into cylinder bore. See Fig 1.
  2. Install sealing rings onto piston stopper, and install stopper into cylinder bore. Depress primary piston and install piston stopper circlip into cylinder. Press primary piston into bore until seated.
  3. Install and tighten secondary stopper bolt in bottom of cylinder. Install reservoir on master cylinder using NEW grommets coated with clean brake fluid. Bench-bleed master cylinder before installing in vehicle. Bleed entire brake system after installation. See BLEEDING BRAKE SYSTEM .
