Brake Pedal Travel

  1. Start engine, and depress brake pedal several times. Hold brake pedal using approximately 66 lbs. (30 kg) pressure on pedal. Measure from floor board to rear of brake pedal. Measure from floor board to rear of brake pedal. See Fig 1.
  2. Brake pedal-to-floor board distance with pedal depressed should be 2.36" (60 mm) or greater. If distance is less than specified, problem may be rear brakes out of adjustment or worn, front pads worn, defective master cylinder or air in brake system.
