Fuel Gauge Is Inaccurate
- Disconnect PCM Gray 16-pin connector. Disconnect fuel gauge sending unit connector located under rear seat. Using Connector Test Adapter Kit (J-35616-A), connect Red lead of Tester (J-33431-C) to fuel gauge sending unit connector terminal No. 1 (Yellow/Red wire) and Black lead to ground.
- Turn ignition switch to ON position. Set tester resistance dial to 120 ohms, 32 ohms, and 3 ohms. If fuel gauge does not indicate "E" at 120 ohms, one half at 32 ohms and "F" at 3 ohms, go to next step. If fuel gauge indicates as specified, check for open in Black wire between fuel gauge sending unit and ground. If circuit is okay, replace fuel gauge sending unit.
- Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Disconnect tester. Disconnect instrument cluster White 13-pin connector. Using an ohmmeter, measure resistance in Yellow/Red wire between instrument cluster White 13-pin connector terminal No. 9 and fuel gauge sending unit connector terminal No. 1.
- If resistance is 5 ohms or more, repair open in Yellow/Red wire. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, check for high resistance in instrument cluster printed circuit. Repair or replace instrument cluster printed circuit as necessary. If instrument cluster printed circuit is okay, replace fuel gauge. If problem is not corrected, problem is related to PCM.
