Fuel Gauge Indicates "F" (Full) At All Times
- Disconnect fuel gauge sending unit connector located under rear seat. Turn ignition switch to ON position. If fuel gauge still indicates "F", go to next step. If fuel gauge indicates "E", replace fuel gauge sending unit.
- Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Disconnect instrument cluster White 13-pin connector. Disconnect PCM Gray 16-pin connector. Using an ohmmeter, check for continuity between instrument cluster White 13-pin connector terminals No. 9 (Yellow/Red wire) and No. 10 (Black/Blue wire). If continuity is not present, go to next step. If continuity is present, repair short to ground in Yellow/Red wire between instrument cluster, fuel gauge sending unit and PCM.
- Check instrument cluster printed circuit for bad connections and cracks. Repair or replace instrument cluster printed circuit as necessary. If instrument cluster printed circuit is okay, replace fuel gauge. If problem is not corrected, problem is related to PCM. See appropriate SELF-DIAGNOSTICS article in ENGINE PERFORMANCE.
