Master Cylinder: Notes
- Remove master cylinder. See MASTER CYLINDER under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Secure master cylinder mounting flange in vise so rear of primary piston is accessible. Clean reservoir and on and around reservoir cap. See Figure . Remove cap, and check cap and diaphragm for cuts, cracks, nicks or deformation. Replace as necessary. Remove master cylinder reservoir. Remove fluid level sensor and proportioning valves (if equipped). Remove snap ring while depressing primary piston with smooth, round-ended tool.
- Remove primary and secondary pistons, springs, spring retainers and seals by applying low pressure compressed air into upper outlet port at blind end of bore, with all other ports plugged. Clean all parts with clean denatured alcohol.
