Test Q: Engine Oil Pressure Message Always On

  1. If instrument cluster system check has been performed, go to next step. If instrument cluster system check has not been performed, see INSTRUMENT CLUSTER SYSTEM CHECK  under TROUBLE SHOOTING.
  2. Disconnect engine oil pressure switch harness connector. Engine oil pressure switch is located on front of engine, above starter. Turn ignition switch to START position and let engine idle. If oil pressure indicator illuminates, go to next step. If oil pressure indicator does not illuminate, go to step  6 .
  3. Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Disconnect instrument cluster 32-pin harness connector. Measure resistance between ground and instrument cluster harness connector terminal D14 (Tan wire). If resistance is less than 2 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is 2 ohms or more, go to step  5 .
  4. Repair short to ground in Tan wire between instrument cluster and engine oil pressure switch. After repairs, perform instrument cluster system check. See INSTRUMENT CLUSTER SYSTEM CHECK  under TROUBLE SHOOTING.
  5. Replace instrument cluster. See INSTRUMENT CLUSTER  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. After repairs, perform instrument cluster system check. See INSTRUMENT CLUSTER SYSTEM CHECK  under TROUBLE SHOOTING.
  6. Replace engine oil pressure switch. After repairs, perform instrument cluster system check. See INSTRUMENT CLUSTER SYSTEM CHECK  under TROUBLE SHOOTING.
