Test K: Low Engine Coolant Indicator Inoperative
- If instrument cluster system check has been performed, go to next step. If instrument cluster system check has not been performed, see INSTRUMENT CLUSTER SYSTEM CHECK under TROUBLE SHOOTING.
- If low coolant indicator does not illuminate when coolant level is low, go to next step. If low coolant indicator illuminates when coolant level is low, perform instrument cluster system check. See INSTRUMENT CLUSTER SYSTEM CHECK under TROUBLE SHOOTING.
- Disconnect engine coolant level indicator module 3-pin harness connector. Engine coolant level indicator module is located on right side of radiator. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Using a fused jumper wire (3-amp), connect ground to engine coolant level indicator module harness connector terminal "B" (Yellow/Black wire). If low coolant warning indicator illuminates, go to next step. If low coolant level indicator does not illuminate, go to step 7 .
- Using a fused jumper wire (3-amp), connect engine coolant level indicator module connector terminals "B" (Yellow/Black wire) and "C" (Black wire). If low coolant level indicator illuminates, go to next step. If low coolant level indicator does not illuminate, go to step 6 .
- Check for poor connection at engine coolant level indicator module harness connector. If connection is okay, replace engine coolant level indicator module. After repairs, perform instrument cluster system check. See INSTRUMENT CLUSTER SYSTEM CHECK under TROUBLE SHOOTING.
- Repair open in Black wire between engine coolant level indicator module ground. Ground point is located on transmission stud, near starter. After repairs, perform instrument cluster system check. See INSTRUMENT CLUSTER SYSTEM CHECK under TROUBLE SHOOTING.
- Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Disconnect instrument cluster 32-pin harness connector. Measure resistance in Yellow/Black wire between instrument cluster harness connector terminal C13 and engine coolant level indicator module harness connector terminal "B". See Figure . If resistance is 2 ohms or more, go to next step. If resistance is less than 2 ohms, go to step 9 .
- Repair open in Yellow/Black wire between instrument cluster and engine coolant level indicator module. After repairs, perform instrument cluster system check. See INSTRUMENT CLUSTER SYSTEM CHECK under TROUBLE SHOOTING.
- Replace instrument cluster. See INSTRUMENT CLUSTER under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. After repairs, perform instrument cluster system check. See INSTRUMENT CLUSTER SYSTEM CHECK under TROUBLE SHOOTING.
