Test J: Low Engine Coolant Indicator Always On

  1. Disconnect engine coolant level indicator module 3-pin harness connector. Engine coolant level indicator module is located on right side of radiator. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. If low coolant warning indicator illuminates, go to next step. If low coolant warning indicator does not illuminate, go to step  5 .
  2. Disconnect instrument cluster 32-pin harness connector. Measure resistance between ground and engine coolant level indicator module harness connector terminal "B" (Yellow/Black wire). See Figure . If resistance is less than 2 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is 2 or more ohms, go to step  4 .
  3. Repair short to ground Yellow/Black wire between instrument cluster and engine coolant level indicator module. After repairs, perform instrument cluster system check. See INSTRUMENT CLUSTER SYSTEM CHECK  under TROUBLE SHOOTING.
  4. Replace instrument cluster. See INSTRUMENT CLUSTER  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. After repairs, perform instrument cluster system check. See INSTRUMENT CLUSTER SYSTEM CHECK  under TROUBLE SHOOTING.
  5. Replace engine coolant level indicator module. After repairs, perform instrument cluster system check. See INSTRUMENT CLUSTER SYSTEM CHECK  under TROUBLE SHOOTING.
