Test I: High Beam Indicator Inoperative
- If high beam headlights operate, go to next step. If high beam headlights do not operate, diagnose headlights concern. See appropriate wiring diagram in HEADLIGHT SYSTEMS & DAYTIME RUNNING LIGHTS article.
- If turn signal indicators operate normally, go to next step. If turn signal indicators do not operate normally, diagnose turn signal indicators. See appropriate wiring diagram in EXTERIOR LIGHTS article.
- Disconnect Daytime Running Lamps (DRL) control module 10-pin harness connector. DRL control module is located under left side of instrument panel, mounted to electronic brake control module bracket. Using a fused jumper wire (3-amp), connect battery voltage to DRL control module harness connector C2 terminal "M" (White wire). See Fig 1
. If high beam indicator illuminates, go to next step. If high beam indicator does not illuminate, go to step 5
.
- Replace DRL control module. After repairs, perform instrument cluster system check. See INSTRUMENT CLUSTER SYSTEM CHECK
under TROUBLE SHOOTING.
- Measure resistance in White wire between instrument cluster harness connector terminal D6 and DRL control module harness connector terminal "M". See Figure
and Fig 1
. If resistance is 2 ohms or more, go to next step. If resistance is less than 2 ohms, go to step 7
.
- Repair open in White wire between instrument cluster and DRL control module. After repairs, perform instrument cluster system check. See INSTRUMENT CLUSTER SYSTEM CHECK
under TROUBLE SHOOTING.
- Inspect indicator and connection. If indicator and connection are okay, replace instrument cluster. See INSTRUMENT CLUSTER
under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. After repairs, perform instrument cluster system check. See INSTRUMENT CLUSTER SYSTEM CHECK
under TROUBLE SHOOTING.
