Seal Replacement Recommendations

Lip seals seal the rotating shaft in the following locations:
- On the steering gear
- On the power steering pump at the pinion shaft

Replace the seal after inspecting and thoroughly cleaning the sealing surface when a leak occurs in the following locations:
- On the steering gear.
- On the power steering pump at the pinion shaft.

Replace the shaft only if severe pitting is present. Clean the surface of the shaft with a crocus cloth if the corrosion in the lip seal contact zone is not excessive. Replace the gear or pump only if the leaking continues after the first cleaning.
