SIR Steering Wheel Module Coil - Assemble

Assembly Procedure

Important: Align the block tooth on the race and upper shaft assembly to the 12 o'clock position.

1. If reusing the original SIR coil assembly, refer to Inflatable Restraint Coil Centering - Off Vehicle (Column Shift And Floor Shift).





2. A new SIR coil assembly will come precentered. Do not remove the orange tab until installation is complete
3. Align the SIR coil assembly (2) with the horn tower sticking through the shaft lock shield assembly (1).





Important: The retaining ring (1) must seat in the groove of the race and upper shaft assembly (2).

4. Install the retaining ring (1).
5. If a new SIR coil assembly was installed, remove and discard the orange tab.





6. Reconnect the SIR coil assembly connector.
7. Install new wire harness straps onto the wire harness assembly (1).
8. Pop the wire harness assembly (1) into the wire harness strap (2).
9. Install the upper and lower shrouds. Refer to Trim Covers, Shift Lever Seal - Assemble - Off Vehicle.
