PRNDL Display Inaccurate Or Inoperative

  1. If instrument panel cluster diagnostic check was performed, go to next step. If instrument panel cluster diagnostic check was not performed, go to INSTRUMENT PANEL CLUSTER DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK .
  2. Connect scan tool to DLC. Following scan tool manufacturer's instructions, perform PRNDL display test. If flag around each segment does not turn on and off as commanded, go to next step. If flag around each segment turns on and off as commanded, check for poor harness connections or faulty wires. Repair as necessary. After repair, check system operation.
  3. Replace IPC. See INSTRUMENT PANEL CLUSTER (IPC)  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION then go to next step.
  4. Check volt gauge operation. If system operates normally, repair is complete. If problem still exists, return to step  2.
