Coolant Temperature Gauge Inaccurate Or Inoperative
- If instrument panel cluster diagnostic check was performed, go to next step. If instrument panel cluster diagnostic check was not performed, go to INSTRUMENT PANEL CLUSTER DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK .
- Verify that coolant temperature gauge is not operating normally. If coolant temperature gauge is operating normally. Problem is intermittent. Check for loose connections or faulty wires. Repair as necessary. If coolant temperature gauge does not operate properly, go to next step.
- Connect scan tool to DLC. Select PCM OUTPUT menu. If scan tool display agrees with coolant temperature gauge reading, go to SELF-DIAGNOSTICS in appropriate BODY CONTROL MODULES article. If scan tool display does not agree with coolant temperature gauge reading, go to next step.
- Replace Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC). See INSTRUMENT PANEL CLUSTER (IPC) under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. After repair, go to next step.
- Operate system to verify repair. If system operates normally, repair is complete. If system does not operate normally, return to step 2.
