Change Engine Oil Message Always On
- If instrument panel cluster diagnostic check was performed, go to next step. If instrument panel cluster diagnostic check was not performed, go to INSTRUMENT PANEL CLUSTER DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK .
- Start engine. If CHANGE ENGINE OIL message illuminates in message center, go to next step. If message does not illuminate, check for intermittent problem. Check for poor connections and faulty wires. Repair or replace as necessary. After repair, check system for normal operation.
- Install scan tool. Following scan tool manufacturer's instructions, observe ENGINE OIL LIFE parameter in PCM ENGINE DATA 2 data list. If 0% is displayed, go to next step. If 0% is not displayed, go to step 5.
- Reset engine oil life system. See RESETTING ENGINE OIL LIFE SYSTEM under PROGRAMMING. If CHANGE ENGINE OIL message goes off, go to step 6. If CHANGE ENGINE OIL message remains on, go to next step.
- Replace Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC). See INSTRUMENT PANEL CLUSTER (IPC) under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. After repair, go to next step.
- Operate system to verify repair. If system operates normally, repair is complete. If system does not operate normally, return to step 2.
