Test 7: Oil Pressure Gauge Always Indicates Low: Diesel

  1. Turn ignition off. Disconnect fuel pump/oil pressure switch/sender harness connector. Connect one lead of Gauge Tester (J-33431-B) to terminal "A" (Tan wire) at fuel pump/oil pressure switch/sender harness connector. Connect other lead to ground. Turn ignition on. Set resistance dial on tester to 88 ohms. If oil pressure gauge indicates less than 80 psi, go to step  3. If oil pressure gauge indicates 80 psi or greater, go to next step.
  2. Replace fuel pump/oil pressure switch/sender.
  3. Turn ignition off. Disconnect instrument cluster harness connector. Check continuity between ground and terminal No. 15 (Tan wire) at instrument cluster harness connector. See Figure. If continuity does not exist, go to step  5. If continuity exists, go to next step.
  4. Repair short to ground in Tan wire between fuel pump/oil pressure switch/sender and instrument cluster.
  5. Replace instrument cluster.
