Park Brake Shoe Inspection - Rear Drum

  1. Raise and support the vehicle.
  2. Remove the rear brake drum. See DRUM BRAKE SHOE  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
  3. Inspect and replace the brake shoe and lining if any of the following conditions are found:
    • Excessive wear indicated by the brake lining being worn down to the shoe.
    • Brake shoe lining cracking.
    • Oil or fluid contamination.
  4. Adjust the park brake if necessary. See PARK BRAKE ADJUSTMENT .
  5. Install the rear brake drum. See DRUM BRAKE SHOE  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
  6. Lower the vehicle.
