Removal & Installation

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2003 Saturn Vue and 2002 Saturn Vue. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable. Remove intake manifold. See INTAKE MANIFOLD . Install a Debris Screen (J-45482). On left valve cover, disconnect the Camshaft Position Sensor (CMP) electrical harness connector. Remove the wire from the clip. On right valve cover, move the knock sensor wiring harness away from the cam cover. On both valve covers, disconnect the electrical harness connector from the ignition module.
  2. Remove ignition coil pack. Remove oil filler tube and cap assembly. Remove valve cover bolts. Remove valve cover. Ensure all 8 sealing "O" rings are accounted for on each side.
  3. To install, reverse removal procedure. Lightly coat each "O" ring seal with engine oil prior to installation to assist in holding the "O" ring seals to the camshaft cover. Apply a thing coat of Permatex - The Right Stuff (or equivalent) on the front and rear of the camshaft cover. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS . Start the engine and inspect for oil leaks.
