Removal & Installation

  1. Before proceeding, see AIR BAG SAFETY PRECAUTIONS . Disable air bag system. See DISABLING & ACTIVATING AIR BAG SYSTEM .
  2. Remove driver-side air bag module. See AIR BAG MODULES . Remove steering wheel nut. Make mark on steering shaft and steering wheel to ensure proper alignment during installation. Using Steering Wheel Puller (J-1859-A) and Steering Wheel Puller Legs (J-42578), remove steering wheel.
  3. To install, reverse removal procedure. Ensure alignment mark on steering wheel and steering shaft line up. Tighten steering wheel nut to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS . Activate air bag system.
