Test 9: Driver Information Center Inoperative

  1. Turn ignition off. Disconnect compass/temperature display module 8-pin connector. Turn ignition on. Connect a test light between ground and terminal "E" (Yellow wire) at compass/temperature display module harness connector. See Fig 1 . If test light illuminates, disconnect test light and go to next step. If test light does not illuminate, go to step  3 .
  2. Connect test light between terminals "E" (Yellow wire) and "F" (Black wire) at compass/temperature display module harness connector. If test light does not illuminate, go step  5 . If test illuminates, go to step 4 .
  3. Repair open in Yellow wire between compass/temperature display module and instrument panel fuse block. See OVERHEAD CONSOLE - ASTRO & SAFARI article. After repairs, go to step  6 .
  4. Replace compass/temperature display module. See COMPASS/TEMPERATURE DISPLAY MODULE  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. After repairs, go to step  6 .
  5. Repair open in Black wire between compass/temperature display module and ground connection. Ground is located at front of engine, near thermostat housing. See wiring diagram in OVERHEAD CONSOLE - ASTRO & SAFARI article. After repairs, go to next step.
  6. Connect all disconnected components. Check system for proper operation. If system operates properly, test is complete. If system does not operate properly, go to step  1 .
