TCS Indicator Inoperative

  1. If vehicle has been checked for Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs), go to next step. If vehicle has not been checked for DTCs, go to appropriate SELF-DIAGNOSTICS article in ENGINE PERFORMANCE.
  2. Disconnect instrument cluster Black 18-pin connector C2. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. If TCS indicator illuminates, go to next step. If TCS indicator does not illuminate, go to step  4 .
  3. Check for short to ground in circuit No. 1808 (White wire) between instrument cluster connector C2, terminal "A" and malfunction indicator light traction control module connector terminal "E". Repair as necessary and recheck system operation. If circuit is okay, replace instrument cluster. See INSTRUMENT CLUSTER  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Recheck system operation.
  4. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Connect a 3-amp fused jumper wire between malfunction indicator light traction control module connector terminal "E" (White wire) and "D" (Black wire). If TCS indicator illuminates, go to next step. If TCS indicator does not illuminate, go to step  6 .
  5. Replace malfunction indicator light traction control module. Recheck system operation.
  6. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Connect a 3-amp fused jumper wire between malfunction indicator light traction control module connector terminal "E" (White wire) and ground. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. If TCS indicator illuminates, go to next step. If TCS indicator does not illuminate, go to step  8 .
  7. Repair poor connection or open in circuit No. 1550 (Black wire) between malfunction indicator light traction control module and ground. Recheck system operation.
  8. Check for short to ground in circuit No. 1808 (White wire) between instrument cluster connector C2, terminal "A" and malfunction indicator light traction control module connector terminal "E". Repair as necessary and recheck system operation. If circuit is okay, replace instrument cluster. See INSTRUMENT CLUSTER  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Recheck system operation.
