Low Traction Indicator Is Inoperative

  1. If vehicle has been checked for Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs), go to next step. If vehicle has not been checked for DTCs, go to appropriate SELF-DIAGNOSTICS article in ENGINE PERFORMANCE.
  2. Disconnect Electronic Brake Traction Control Module (EBTCM) Light Gray 24-pin connector C1. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. If low traction indicator illuminates, go to next step. If low traction indicator does not illuminate, go to step  4 .
  3. Check for short to ground in circuit No. 832 (Light Blue wire) between EBTCM connector C1, terminal A6 and instrument cluster Natural 18-pin connector C1, terminal "F". Repair as necessary and recheck system operation. If circuit is okay, replace instrument cluster. See INSTRUMENT CLUSTER  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Recheck system operation.
  4. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Connect a 3-amp fused jumper wire between EBTCM harness connector C1, terminal A6 (Light Blue wire) and ground. If low traction indicator illuminates, go to next step. If low traction indicator does not illuminate, go to step  6 .
  5. Locate and repair problem in EBTCM or anti-lock brake system. See appropriate ANTI-LOCK article in BRAKES. Recheck system operation.
  6. Check for short to ground in circuit No. 832 (Light Blue wire) between EBTCM connector C1, terminal A6 and instrument cluster Natural 18-pin connector C1, terminal "F". Repair as necessary and recheck system operation. If circuit is okay, replace instrument cluster. See INSTRUMENT CLUSTER  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Recheck system operation.
