Door Ajar Indicator Inoperative

  1. Disconnect Black 56-pin connector C203 (instrument panel-to-left side body wiring harness, located under left side of steering column). Connect a 3-amp fused jumper wire between connector C203 (instrument cluster side), terminal C6 (Yellow wire) and ground. See Figure . Turn ignition switch to ON position. If door ajar indicator illuminates, go to next step. If door ajar indicator does not illuminate, go to step  30 .
  2. Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Reconnect connector C203. Disconnect White 16-pin connector C303 (body-to-left door wiring harness, located behind left kick panel to left of parking brake). Connect a 3-amp fused jumper wire between connector C303 (instrument cluster side), terminal "H" (Yellow wire) and ground. Turn ignition switch to ON position. If door ajar indicator illuminates, go to next step. If door ajar indicator does not illuminate, go to step  31 .
  3. Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Reconnect connector C303. Disconnect left front door lock Black 4-pin connector C1. Connect a 3-amp fused jumper wire between left front door lock connector C1 (instrument cluster side), terminal "B" (Yellow wire) and ground. Turn ignition switch to ON position. If door ajar indicator illuminates, go to next step. If door ajar indicator does not illuminate, go to step  32 .
  4. Connect a 3-amp fused jumper wire left front door lock connector C1 terminals "B" (Yellow wire) and "D" (Black wire). If door ajar indicator illuminates, go to next step. If door ajar indicator does not illuminate, go to step  6 .
  5. Reconnect left front door lock connector C1. Turn ignition switch to ON position. Press plunger to close switch contacts. If door ajar indicator illuminates, go to step  8 . If door ajar indicator does not illuminate, go to step  7 .
  6. Repair poor connection or open in circuit No. 750 (Black wire) between left front door lock connector C1 and ground. Recheck system operation.
  7. Replace left front door lock. Recheck system operation.
  8. Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Disconnect White 16-pin connector C302 (body-to-right door wiring harness, located behind right kick panel). Connect a 3-amp fused jumper wire between connector C302, terminal "H" (Yellow wire) and ground. Turn ignition switch to ON position. If door ajar indicator illuminates, go to next step. If door ajar indicator does not illuminate, go to step  33 .
  9. Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Reconnect connector C302. Disconnect right front door lock Black 4-pin connector C1. Connect a 3-amp fused jumper wire between right front door lock connector C1, terminal "C" (Yellow wire) and ground. Turn ignition switch to ON position. If door ajar indicator illuminates, go to next step. If door ajar indicator does not illuminate, go to step  34 .
  10. Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Connect a 3-amp fused jumper wire between right front door lock connector C1, terminals "C" (Yellow wire) and "A" (Black wire). Turn ignition switch to ON position. If door ajar indicator illuminates, go to next step. If door ajar indicator does not illuminate, go to step  12 .
  11. Reconnect right front door lock connector C1. Turn ignition switch to ON position. Press plunger to close switch contacts. If door ajar indicator illuminates, go to step  14 . If door ajar indicator does not illuminate, go to step  13 .
  12. Repair poor connection or open in circuit No. 750 (Black wire) between right front door lock connector C1 and ground. Recheck system operation.
  13. Replace right front door lock. Recheck system operation.
  14. Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Disconnect Black 8-pin connector C402 (body-to-liftgate wiring harness, located above right side of roof headliner). Connect a 3-amp fused jumper wire between connector C402, terminal "E" (Yellow wire) and ground. Turn ignition switch to ON position. If door ajar indicator illuminates, go to next step. If door ajar indicator does not illuminate, go to step  35 .
  15. Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Reconnect connector C402. Disconnect liftgate lock Black 4-pin connector C1. Connect a 3-amp fused jumper wire between liftgate lock connector C1, terminal "B" (Yellow wire) and ground. Turn ignition switch to ON position. If door ajar indicator illuminates, go to next step. If door ajar indicator does not illuminate, go to step  36 .
  16. Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Connect a 3-amp fused jumper wire between liftgate lock connector C1, terminal "B" (Yellow wire) and "D" (Black wire). Turn ignition switch to ON position. If door ajar indicator illuminates, go to next step. If door ajar indicator does not illuminate, go to step  18 .
  17. Reconnect liftgate lock connector C1. Turn ignition switch to ON position. Press plunger to close switch contacts. If door ajar indicator illuminates, go to step  20 . If door ajar indicator does not illuminate, go to step  19 .
  18. Repair poor connection or open in circuit No. 450 (Black wire) between liftgate lock connector C1 and ground. Recheck system operation.
  19. Replace liftgate lock. Recheck system operation.
  20. Disconnect right sliding door jamb switch connector. Connect a 3-amp fused jumper wire between right sliding door jamb switch connector terminal "A" (Yellow wire) and ground. Turn ignition switch to ON position. If door ajar indicator illuminates, go to next step. If door ajar indicator does not illuminate, go to step  37 .
  21. Connect a 3-amp fused jumper wire between right sliding door jamb switch connector terminals "A" (Yellow wire) and "C" (Black wire). Turn ignition switch to ON position. If door ajar indicator illuminates, go to next step. If door ajar indicator does not illuminate, go to step  23 .
  22. Reconnect right sliding door jamb switch connector. Turn ignition switch to ON position. Press plunger to close switch contacts. If door ajar indicator illuminates and vehicle is not equipped with left sliding door, system is operating properly. If door ajar indicator illuminates and vehicle is equipped with left sliding door, go to step  25 . If door ajar indicator does not illuminate, go to step  24 .
  23. Repair poor connection or open in circuit No. 750 (Black wire) between right sliding door jamb switch and ground. Recheck system operation.
  24. Replace right sliding door jamb switch. Recheck system operation.
  25. Disconnect left sliding door jamb switch connector. Connect a 3-amp fused jumper wire between left sliding door jamb switch connector terminal "A" (Yellow wire) and ground. Turn ignition switch to ON position. If door ajar indicator illuminates, go to next step. If door ajar indicator does not illuminate, go to step  38 .
  26. Connect a 3-amp fused jumper wire between left sliding door jamb switch connector terminals "A" (Yellow wire) and "C" (Black wire). Turn ignition switch to ON position. If door ajar indicator illuminates, go to next step. If door ajar indicator does not illuminate, go to step  28 .
  27. Reconnect left sliding door jamb switch connector. Turn ignition switch to ON position. Press plunger to close switch contacts. If door ajar indicator illuminates, system is operating properly. If door ajar indicator does not illuminate, go to step  29 .
  28. Repair poor connection or open in circuit No. 750 (Black wire) between left sliding door jamb switch and ground. Recheck system operation.
  29. Replace left sliding door jamb switch. Recheck system operation.
  30. Using a 3-amp fused jumper wire, backprobe between instrument cluster connector C1, terminal "G" (Yellow wire) and ground. Turn ignition switch to ON position. If door ajar indicator illuminates, go to step  39 . If door ajar indicator does not illuminate, go to step  40 .
  31. Repair poor connection or open in circuit No. 804 (Yellow wire) between connector C203, terminal C6 and connector C303, terminal "H". Recheck system operation.
  32. Repair poor connection or open in circuit No. 804 (Yellow wire) between left front door lock connector C1, terminal "B" and connector C303, terminal "H". Recheck system operation.
  33. Repair poor connection or open in circuit No. 804 (Yellow wire) between connector C302, terminal "H" and splice S308 (located in body wiring harness in left door, about 15" from seat belt switch breakout). Recheck system operation.
  34. Repair poor connection or open in circuit No. 804 (Yellow wire) between right front door lock connector C1, terminal "C" and splice S308 (located in body wiring harness in left door, about 15" from seat belt switch breakout). Recheck system operation.
  35. Repair poor connection or open in circuit No. 804 (Yellow wire) between connector C402, terminal "E" and splice S308 (located in body wiring harness in left door, about 15" from seat belt switch breakout). Recheck system operation.
  36. Repair poor connection or open in circuit No. 804 (Yellow wire) between liftgate lock connector C1, terminal "B" and splice S308 (located in body wiring harness in left door, about 15" from seat belt switch breakout). Recheck system operation.
  37. Repair poor connection or open in circuit No. 804 (Yellow wire) between right sliding door jamb switch connector terminal "A" and splice S308 (located in body wiring harness in left door, about 15" from seat belt switch breakout). Recheck system operation.
  38. Repair poor connection or open in circuit No. 804 (Yellow wire) between left sliding door jamb switch connector terminal "A" and splice S308 (located in body wiring harness in left door, about 15" from seat belt switch breakout). Recheck system operation.
  39. Repair poor connection or open in circuit No. 804 (Yellow wire) between connector C203, terminal C6 and instrument cluster connector C1, terminal "G". Recheck system operation.
  40. Replace instrument cluster. See INSTRUMENT CLUSTER  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Recheck system operation.
