Brake Warning Indicator Is Off When Parking Brake Is Set

  1. Turn ignition switch to bulb test position (between RUN and START positions). If BRAKE warning indicator illuminates, go to next step. If BRAKE warning indicator does not illuminate, go to BRAKE WARNING INDICATOR INOPERATIVE  test.
  2. Disconnect parking brake indicator switch connector. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Connect a 3-amp fused jumper wire between parking brake switch harness connector terminal "A" (Light Blue wire) and ground. If BRAKE warning indicator illuminates, go to next step. If BRAKE warning indicator does not illuminate, go to step  4 .
  3. Replace parking brake indicator switch. Recheck system operation.
  4. Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Disconnect Daytime Running Lights (DRL) control module Blue 8-pin connector C2. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Connect 3-amp fused jumper wire between DRL control module harness connector C2, terminal "D" (Tan/White wire) and ground. If BRAKE warning indicator illuminates, go to next step. If BRAKE warning indicator does not illuminate, go to step  6 .
  5. Check for poor connection or open in circuit No. 1134 (Light Blue wire) between DRL control module connector C2 and parking brake indicator switch. Repair as necessary and recheck system operation. If circuit is okay, replace Daytime Running Lights (DRL) control module. Recheck system operation.
  6. Repair poor connection or open in circuit No. 33 (Tan/White wire) between splice S207 (located in instrument panel harness under left side of instrument panel, about 2" from hazard light/turn signal flasher breakout) and DRL control module connector C2. Recheck system operation.
