Up Shift Indicator Does Not Operate Properly

Using scan tool, monitor normal mode communication between Powertrain Control Module (PCM) and instrument cluster. If UP SHIFT T/T display does not match UP SHIFT indicator, replace instrument cluster. See INSTRUMENT CLUSTER  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Recheck system operation. If UP SHIFT T/T display matches UP SHIFT indicator, locate and repair problem in PCM system. See appropriate SELF-DIAGNOSTICS article in ENGINE PERFORMANCE. Recheck system operation.
