Engine Coolant Temperature Gauge Does Not Operate Properly

Using scan tool, monitor normal mode communication between Powertrain Control Module (PCM) and instrument cluster. If coolant temperature signal is correct, replace instrument cluster. See INSTRUMENT CLUSTER  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Recheck system operation. If coolant temperature signal is incorrect, locate and repair problem in PCM system. See appropriate SELF-DIAGNOSTICS article in ENGINE PERFORMANCE. Recheck system operation.
