Gauge Is Inaccurate

  1. Disconnect temperature gauge sending unit connector, located at left side of engine block. Connect one Red wire lead of Instrument Panel Tester (J-33431) to Dark Green wire terminal of sending unit connector, and connect other Red lead to ground. Turn ignition on.
  2. Adjust tester dial to 1305 ohms, then 49.5 ohms. If gauge indicates cold (100°F) with dial at 1305 ohms, and hot (260°F) with dial at 49.5 ohms, replace sending unit. If gauge does not indicate as specified, check for open in Dark Green wire between sending unit and IPC terminal B9. Repair as necessary. If wire is okay, replace instrument cluster.
