Exhaust Manifold Replacement (Engine Left Side)

REMOVAL PROCEDURE





1. Disconnect the battery ground (negative) cable.
2. Remove the throttle body air inlet duct.
3. Drain the engine coolant from the cooling system.
4. Remove the right engine mount strut bracket.
5. Disconnect the inlet radiator hose to the engine.
6. Remove the automatic transaxle vacuum modulator pipe.
7. Remove the thermostat bypass pipe.
8. Remove the exhaust crossover pipe heat shield.
9. Remove the exhaust crossover pipe bolts to the engine left side exhaust manifold.





10. Remove the engine left side exhaust manifold heat shield bolts.
11. Remove the engine left side exhaust manifold heat shield.





12. Remove the engine left side exhaust manifold nuts.
13. Remove the engine left side exhaust manifold.
14. Remove the engine left side exhaust manifold gasket.
15. Clean the engine left side exhaust manifold to the engine left side cylinder head sealing surfaces.

INSTALLATION PROCEDURE





1. Install the engine left side exhaust manifold gasket.
2. Install the engine left side exhaust manifold.
3. Install the engine left side exhaust manifold nuts.
^ Tighten the engine left side exhaust manifold nuts to 16 Nm (12 ft. lbs.).





4. Install the engine left side exhaust manifold heat shield.
5. Install the engine left side exhaust manifold heat shield bolts.
^ Tighten the engine left side exhaust manifold shield bolts to 10 Nm (89 inch lbs.).

6. Install the exhaust crossover pipe bolts to the engine left side exhaust manifold.
7. Install the exhaust crossover pipe heat shield.
8. Install the thermostat bypass pipe.
9. Install the automatic transaxle vacuum modulator pipe.
10. Connect the inlet radiator hose to the engine.
11. Install the right engine mount strut bracket.
12. Fill the cooling system with engine coolant.





13. Install the throttle body air inlet duct.
14. Connect the battery ground (negative) cable.
