Lifter / Lash Adjuster: Service and Repair

REMOVAL PROCEDURE





1. Remove the left (front) valve rocker arm cover.
2. Remove the right (rear) valve rocker arm cover.
3. Remove the upper intake manifold.
4. Remove the lower intake manifold.
5. Remove the valve rocker arms and pushrods.
6. Remove the lifter guide bolts.
7. Remove the lifter guide.
8. Remove the lifter(s).
9. Clean and inspect the valve lifter(s).

INSTALLATION PROCEDURE





1. Coat the lifters with prelube.
2. Install the lifters to the same location from which they were removed.
3. Install the lifter guide.
4. Install the lifter guide bolts.
^ Tighten the lifter guide bolts to 10 Nm (89 inch lbs.).

5. Install the valve rocker arms and pushrods.
6. Install the lower intake manifold.
7. Install the upper intake manifold.
8. Install the right (rear) valve rocker arm cover.
9. Install the left (front) valve rocker arm cover.
