Radiator Cooling Fan Motor: Service and Repair
REMOVAL PROCEDURECAUTION: AN ELECTRIC FAN UNDER THE HOOD CAN START UP EVEN WHEN THE ENGINE IS NOT RUNNING AND CAN INJURE YOU. KEEP HANDS, CLOTHING AND TOOLS AWAY FROM ANY UNDERHOOD ELECTRIC FAN.
CAUTION: TO HELP AVOID PERSONAL INJURY OR DAMAGE TO THE VEHICLE, A BENT, CRACKED, OR DAMAGED FAN BLADE OR HOUSING SHOULD ALWAYS BE REPLACED.
IMPORTANT: If abnormal noise or vibration is felt from the engine compartment, inspect and clean the fan blades as necessary.
1. Turn the ignition OFF.
2. Remove the engine mount struts.
3. Remove the wiring harness and the clips from the fan motors.
4. Remove the fan mounting bolts.
5. Remove the fans.
INSTALLATION PROCEDURE
1. Install the fans.
2. Install the fan mounting bolts.
Tighten the bolts to 6 Nm (53 inch lbs.).
3. Install the wiring harness to the fan motors and clips.
4. Install the engine mount struts.
5. Inspect for correct operation of the fan motor.
