Turn Signal Indicators Inoperative

  1. If exterior turn signal lights flash, go to next step. If exterior turn signal lights do not flash, locate and repair problem in exterior lighting system. See WIRING DIAGRAMS  .
  2. Turn high beams on. If high beam indicator illuminates, go to next step. If high beam indicator does not illuminate, see procedures in TURN SIGNALS, HIGH BEAM & SEAT BELT INDICATOR INOPERATIVE (OTHER INDICATORS & GAUGES OKAY). 
  3. For left turn signal indicator, check for poor connection or open in circuit No. 14 (Light Blue wire) between instrument cluster and splice S290 (located in instrument panel wiring harness behind instrument cluster, about 8" from blower motor relay breakout). For right turn signal indicator, check for poor connection or open in circuit No. 15 (Dark Blue wire) between instrument cluster and splice S289 (located in instrument panel wiring harness behind instrument cluster). Repair as necessary and recheck system operation. If circuits are okay, go to next step.
  4. Check turn signal indicator bulb and bulb connection. Repair as necessary and recheck system operation. If bulb and bulb connection are okay, replace instrument cluster. See procedures in INSTRUMENT CLUSTER  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Recheck system operation.
