Rear Brake Shoes: Installation

  1. Install parking brake shoe lever and self-adjusting strut. Install parking brake cable in lever. Install hold-down springs. Install brake shoes and return springs.
  2. On ABS equipped models, install hub, washer and NEW spindle nut and tighten to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS . Install brake drum.
  3. On non-ABS models, install brake drum, washer and NEW spindle nut. Tighten spindle nut to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS . Stake spindle nut in place. Install spindle cap. Adjust rear brakes. See REAR BRAKE SHOES  under ADJUSTMENTS.
