Removal (S-10 Chassis)

  1. Apply the parking brake.
  2. Remove the master cylinder away from the vacuum booster. See MASTER CYLINDER .
  3. Support the master cylinder.
  4. Disconnect the check valve from the vacuum booster.
  5. Remove the left closeout/insulator panel. See INSTRUMENT PANEL .
  6. Remove the pushrod retainer from the brake pedal pin.
  7. Remove the stop light switch and the pushrod from the brake pedal pin.
  8. Remove the steering column support bracket. See appropriate STEERING COLUMN article in STEERING.
  9. Remove the vacuum booster mounting nuts.
  10. Remove the vacuum booster assembly and gasket. See Figure.
