Temperature Gauge Always Reads Cold

  1. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Disconnect coolant temperature sender harness connector. Connect a fused jumper wire between Dark Green wire terminal at temperature sender harness connector and ground. If temperature gauge moves toward HOT, replace temperature sender. If gauge remains on COLD, go to next step.
  2. Remove jumper. Backprobe instrument cluster harness connector terminal No. 22 (Dark Green wire) to ground. If temperature gauge moves to HOT, repair open in Dark Green wire. If gauge remains on COLD, check instrument cluster printed circuit for open. If printed circuit is okay, replace temperature gauge.
