Installation
INSTALLATION PROCEDURECAUTION: Never use oil or grease on studs or nuts. Tighten the wheel nuts with your fingers until they are snug. Then, tighten the nuts (in the sequence shown) to the fastener tightening specification shown in Specifications. Improperly tightened wheel nuts could eventually allow the wheel to come off while the vehicle is moving, possibly causing loss of control, personal injury, and property damage.
1. Install the tire and the wheel (10).
2. Install the wheel nuts (3).
3. Install the special security wheel lock nut (4), if equipped. Use a special security wheel lock key located in the front floor console.
NOTICE: Always use the correct fastener in the proper location. When you replace a fastener, use ONLY the exact part number for that application. The manufacturer will call out those fasteners that require a replacement after removal. The manufacturer will also call out the fasteners that require thread lockers or thread sealant. UNLESS OTHERWISE SPECIFIED, do not use supplemental coatings (paints, greases, or other corrosion inhibitors) on threaded fasteners or fastener joint interfaces. Generally, such coatings adversely affect the fastener torque and joint clamping force, and may damage the fastener. When you install fasteners, use the correct tightening sequence and specifications. Following these instructions can help you avoid damage to parts and systems.
Tighten
Tighten the nuts (3,4) in increments of 27 Nm (20 ft. lbs.) in sequence up to 140 Nm (100 ft. lbs.).
4. Install the hub cap (6) or the wheel trim cover (5), if equipped.
Tighten
Tighten the wheel trim cover (5) to 6 Nm (53 inch lbs.).
5. Install the wheel nut cap, if equipped.
6. Lower the vehicle.
