Exhaust Manifold Replacement (left)
REMOVAL PROCEDURE^ Tools Required
- J34730-1A Fuel Pressure Gauge
1. Relieve the fuel system pressure using the J34730-1A.
2. Remove the fuel lines from the vehicle.
3. Remove the PCV hose from the rocker arm cover.
4. Remove the spark plug wires from the ignition coils.
5. Remove the spark plug wires from the spark plugs.
6. Remove the spark plugs.
7. Loosen the AIR hose clamps and remove the hose.
8. Remove the AIR pipe (with check valve), bolts and gasket from the left exhaust manifold.
9. Remove the coolant sensor from the left cylinder head.
10. Remove the left side exhaust manifold bolts.
11. Raise and suitably support the vehicle.
12. Remove the oxygen sensor from the exhaust manifold.
13. Remove the exhaust manifold pipe nuts.
14. Remove the catalytic converter nuts.
15. Remove the exhaust manifold from the vehicle.
INSTALLATION PROCEDURE
1. Install the exhaust manifold to the vehicle.
NOTICE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Cautions and Notices.
2. Install the catalytic converter nuts.
^ Tighten the catalytic converter nuts to 25 Nm (18 ft. lbs.).
3. Install the exhaust manifold pipe nuts.
^ Tighten the exhaust manifold pipe nuts to 35 Nm (26 ft. lbs.).
4. Install the oxygen sensor to the exhaust manifold
^ Tighten the oxygen sensor to 42 Nm (31 ft. lbs.).
5. Lower the vehicle.
6. Install the left side exhaust manifold bolts.
^ Tighten the exhaust manifold bolts to 25 Nm (18 ft. lbs.).
7. Install the coolant sensor to the left cylinder head.
8. Install the AIR pipe (with check valve), bolts and gasket to the left exhaust manifold.
^ Tighten the AIR pipe bolts 20 Nm (15 ft. lbs.).
9. Install the AIR hose and clamps.
10. Install the spark plugs.
^ Tighten the spark plugs to 15 Nm (11 ft. lbs.).
11. Install the spark plug wires to the spark plugs.
12. Install the spark plug wires to the ignition coils.
13. Install the PCV hose to the rocker arm cover.
14. Install the fuel lines to the vehicle.
