Front Brake Rotor: Removal

  1. Remove caliper and wire aside. See FRONT BRAKE CALIPER  . Mark rotor in relation to hub for installation reference. Remove rotor. Resurface rotors using equipment manufacturer's recommended procedures. Ensure rotors are within specification. See DISC BRAKE SPECIFICATIONS  .
  2. With rotor still mounted on brake lathe, place a nondirectional finish on rotor surfaces. Using a power sanding disc with 120 grit aluminum oxide sandpaper for a minimum of 60 seconds on each side of rotor. A sanding block with 150 grit aluminum oxide sandpaper may be used in place of a power sanding disc. After sanding rotor, clean surface with denatured alcohol.
