Two-Piece Propeller Shaft

With a two-piece propeller shaft there are three working angles present, the front, middle, and rear. The front angle is the angle between the transmission output shaft and the front propeller shaft. The middle angle is the angle between the front propeller shaft and the rear propeller shaft. The rear angle is the angle between the rear propeller shaft and the pinion yoke of the rear axle. Because of this, there is a "odd" joint in the system that does not have another joint to provide cancellation, when checking a three-piece propeller shaft, the rear and the middle angle act a pair of joints to cancel each other out. This means that the front angle would be considered the "odd" joint because there is no other joint to provide cancellation. Because of this, the working angle "odd" joint is to be kept at or below 1/2°.
